Information

Welcome to the Victorian Teachers' Games - Pickleball!

We're excited to have you competing at Kensington Community Aquatic and Recreation Centre. Here's what you need to know before you hit the courts.

Format

You'll play in a round robin group stage, followed by playoffs to decide final standings. Wins are worth 3 points and losses 1 point. If teams are tied on points, we'll break ties using head-to-head result, then points differential, then total points scored.

Session 1 | Sunday AM (14 Teams | 2 Groups of 7)

  • Round Robin: 7 rounds, 12 minutes each

Playoffs:

  • Gold Medal Match: Group A #1 vs. Group B #1
  • Bronze Medal Match: Group A #2 vs. Group B #2
  • 5th–6th: Group A #3 vs. Group B #3
  • 7th–8th: Group A #4 vs. Group B #4
  • 9th–10th: Group A #5 vs. Group B #5
  • 11th–12th: Group A #6 vs. Group B #6
  • 13th–14th: Group A #7 vs. Group B #7

Session 2 | Tuesday AM (15 Teams | 3 Groups of 5)

  • Round Robin: 5 rounds, 12 minutes each

Playoffs (top-ranked team in each tier gets a bye straight to the final):

  • Group Winners: Semi-final between 2nd- and 3rd-best pool winners; best-ranked pool winner has a bye. Final winner takes 1st, semi-final loser takes 3rd.
  • Group Runners-Up: Same structure for 4th and 6th.
  • Group 3rd Place: Same structure for 7th and 9th.
  • Group 4th Place: Same structure for 10th and 12th.
  • Group 5th Place: Same structure for 13th and 15th.

Session 3 | Tuesday PM (12 Teams | 2 Groups of 6)

  • Round Robin: 5 rounds, 12 minutes each

Playoffs:

  • Gold Medal Match: Group A #1 vs. Group B #1
  • Bronze Medal Match: Group A #2 vs. Group B #2
  • 5th–6th: Group A #3 vs. Group B #3
  • 7th–8th: Group A #4 vs. Group B #4
  • 9th–10th: Group A #5 vs. Group B #5
  • 11th–12th: Group A #6 vs. Group B #6

Scoring

Games are played to time, not to a target score. Every rally scores a point (rally scoring), and whoever's ahead when time runs out wins. If it's tied at the buzzer, we'll play one Golden Point to decide the winner.

  • Round robin matches: 12 minutes
  • Playoff matches: 12 minutes

Need help?

Our Tournament Operations Tean will be on hand throughout the session to run the draw, manage timing, and sort out any issues. If you've got a question, just flag down a staff member.

Good luck, play fair, and most importantly, have fun out there!
