Before you start
- You're an Administrator or Moderator of the league.
- The league's organization has an active plan for leagues and sessions. Without one, the session's setup page shows a notice above Generate Matches or Preview Matches that says what's needed.
Quick steps
- Open Today's Session (or Next Session) in the league's sidebar.
- Under Session Players, bring in anyone who joined the league after the session was created: Add Player/Pair → Players/pairs from a league.
- Open Matches Setup, choose who plays together and the format, and click Continue.
- For a Ladder or Groups, open Manage Seeds, pick a source under Use seeding from, and click Save Seeds.
- For a Ladder, add your courts and use Auto-Placement to put the players on them.
- Click Preview Matches (or Generate Matches), check the matches, then click Publish Matches.
- Enter the scores. The league ranking updates from the published, scored matches.
Step-by-step
1Open this week's session
In the league's sidebar, the Session section has shortcuts: Today's Session (or Next Session when nothing is on today) and Last Session. Select a session lists them all. You can also open a session from its card on the league's Sessions page.
A league session works like any other session. The league's sidebar stays above the session's own menu, so you can switch between them.
2Bring in late players
Each session copies the league's players when it's created, so a player who joined the league afterwards isn't in it yet. Open Session Players, click Add Player/Pair and choose Players/pairs from a league. Your league is already chosen, and everyone who isn't in the session yet is ticked. Click Submit.
To add someone who isn't in the league yet, choose Player instead. Add player to league "{League}" is ticked by default, which adds them to the league too, so they're ranked. Untick it only for a one-off guest.
3Choose the format
Open Matches Setup. Under Who plays together?, choose Rotating partners for a Ladder or Random Matchups, or Singles or Fixed pairs for Groups. Choose the format and click Continue.
The format's settings are copied from the league's last session that used it, so you usually don't need to change them.
4Seed the session
For a Ladder or Groups session, open Manage Seeds and choose a source under Use seeding from:
- Previous session standings: where players finished in the league's last session. For a Ladder, it's the last round's standings with promotions applied.
- League ranking: the league ranking so far, best first. If your league has more than one table, there's an option for each (League ranking: Individual, League ranking: Singles, League ranking: Pairs).
- Current seeds (once you've saved seeds), DUPR ratings or Alphabetical.
Players with no ranking yet, such as new players, are listed under Not Seeded. Click Save Seeds.
5Put players on courts (Ladder)
Back on the Ladder, click Add Court for each court you're using. Then open Auto-Placement and choose Place Players by Seed: the top seeds start on Court A, and each court fills before the next. Unseeded players are left over, so open Auto-Placement again and choose Randomize to put them on courts.
6Publish the matches
Click Preview Matches (for Groups and Random Matchups, Generate Matches). The matches open in preview, where only Administrators and Moderators can see them. Check them, and click Publish Matches. Players can then see their matches.
7Enter the scores
Scoring a league session works the same as any session: see Run a session for entering, fixing and locking scores. Players can enter their own scores if the session allows it and their account is linked.
The league ranking
Open Ranking in the league's sidebar to see the League Ranking. It's public: anyone with the league's link can see it.
Which matches count, and who's ranked
- Only matches played in the league's sessions count, and only once they're published and have a result. Matches still to be played and byes don't count.
- Only league members are ranked. Guests can play in sessions, but they don't appear.
- The ranking updates by itself as results come in. There's no button to recalculate it.
How Rankings Work, under the table, explains these rules.
The tables
A league can have up to three tables. You only see the ones your league has played, with a tab for each when there's more than one:
- Individual: each player, from doubles matches with rotating partners or fixed pairs.
- Singles: each player, from singles matches.
- Pairs: fixed pairs, ranked as a team. Both players need to be league members, and a pair is always the same two players: playing with a different partner makes a new pair.
Click a player (or pair) to see their matches across the season. You can filter them by Partner, Opponent, Sessions and Status.
Points, tie-breakers and columns
By default a win is worth 2 points, a draw 1 and a loss 0. Ties are broken by wins, then points difference. The legend under the table shows the current values.
Administrators and Moderators can change them with the settings button above the table:
- Display Settings: which columns show.
- Tie-Breakers: which tie-breakers apply, and in what order.
- Points: what a win, a draw and a loss are worth.
Each setting applies to the table you're on. When the league has more than one table, tick Apply to all rankings to change them all.
DUPR
DUPR results are sent session by session: open the session's Management → DUPR page. There's no league-wide DUPR page. Only session Administrators can send results.
Troubleshooting
A player isn't in the league ranking. Check they're a league member (Manage Players), and that they have at least one published match with a result. Players added to a session as guests aren't ranked.
"No league ranking available" under Use seeding from. No league session has published, scored matches yet. Seed from another source this week.
The settings button isn't there. Only Administrators and Moderators see it.
Preview Matches or Generate Matches is disabled. Read the note near the button: it says what's needed. For a Ladder, every court needs at least 4 players.
